Couldn’t miss the press preview of the David Bowie retrospective at the V&A or the last minute matinee tickets we had obtained for the Book of Mormon today- even though I had been in bed with flu for last 3 days. So I emerged from the sick-bed leaving germs behind and excitement overtaking the flu-exhaustion.

The Bowie exhibition was just amazing- it assailed all senses. Reactive headphones to each exhibit allowed you to hear, see and completely experience Bowie from teenage career beginning to his tours, films, art and all aspects of his life. Bowie was my complete pin-up idol and I saw all his live concerts when I was in my 20’s so this was like living my past life for 2 hours again. I could have spent half a day there as there was so much to see, finishing with a room of giant video screens playing his last concert- it was nearly the same experience as being at the actual concert.
Just an amazing visual and all consuming sensory experience.

and then when I thought the day couldn’t get any better we laughed our way through the Book of Mormon.
It was sooooo camp and so funny that there was no mascara left on my lashes by the time it had ended-all cried off from laughing so much. Words cannot describe it except for camp, irreverent and brilliant…

I cannot recommend both experiences enough!. Rush to buy your tickets. You won’t be sorry.
I could go all over again. The best-est day !

The evening launched Promemoria's super-luxe bespoke kitchen cabinetry collection Angelina in the newly expanded showroom on Pimlico Road. Designed by founder, Romeo Sozzi, Angelina is named after his mother and is inspired by her passion for cooking and entertaining.

This is not the kitchen for those who want to simply “shoosh up” /transform inexpensive kitchens with an expensive worktop and new handles- but a kitchen for those who want to make sure they have the best of the best!. Lined leather drawers, beautiful dark wood, attention to detail. This is the kitchen for the client with a house full of staff and probably a few other homes around the world. We are talking seriously high end here.

During the evening, there were delicious canapes and an auction raising money for KIDs, the disabled childrens charity, whose president is The Hon. Rosa Monckton. There were lots of fantastic auction prizes including one from Ed Baines, the celebrity chef, a seafood platter dinner for 12, served in your home, which was bought by the MP David Mellor.

Birthday treat at the new Crazy Horse revue show on the South Bank. Fantastic marquee with neon lighting and a bar- makes you feel like you could be in Paris!

The show is full of identical perfect bodied girls all quite undressed, except for very clever artistic lighting creating modesty and illusion. The girls were more beautiful and slightly androgenous in their style of bodily perfection, rather than sexy, but it definitely made you want to book gym training sessions to get bodies like theirs.

The sketches were often amusing as well as cleverly staged and choregraphed, and definitely a great evening out in London – one with a difference.

Had a fantastic hour out on the water right in the midst of all the sailing action with ONDECK. We sped out of the marina in a 8.8m rib with a 350hp engine, cutting through the waves to the furthest end of the racing opposite the Beaulieu river. We caught up with the XOD, Victory, Sonar, Sunsail and Quarter Ton races amongst others It is always such a wonderful sight, especially when you are right alongside the bigger yachts.

The hourly rib rides cost £30 for a single ticket, and £110 for a family of 4. Group rate prices on request. There is also the opportunity to sail on a 40ft Dehler39 for £199. There are 3 slots still remaining for this Saturday!

After watching our amazing Olympic Games triumphs, tears and jubilations as a TV couch potato, I feel a more active role coming upon me during Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week.

On Tuesday I will be out on the press boat between 12 and 2pm with my trusty compact Panasonic Lumix camera dwarfed by the huge lenses of the serious sailing Press photographers. So do keep an eye on my Blog/Twitter/Facebook to see what sailing moments I manage to capture…….weather, waves and jostling lenses permitting!

I am very excited about this Friday. Fireworks in the evening and the majority of Skandia Team GB, including Gold Medallist Paul Goodison, Britains' windsurfers Nick Dempsey and Bryony Shaw and 470 champions Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark in Cowes. But the highlight of the day is my chance to sail with one of these Olympians! My sailing ability is very basic and my land legs are infinitely better than my sea legs- but what a fantastic opportunity!

This evening I walked the Red Carpet to the most amazing marquee I have ever seen. At first glance it looked like a proper building with windows, doors, brickwork etc but in fact it was the marquee front of MASTERPIECE London. The event was the Masterpiece Midsummer party in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in aid of the CLIC SARGENT Charity. This fantastic charity’s Ambassador, Lady Helen Taylor was there to support and let us know how this charity raises money to help children with cancer. Last years’s event raised £400,000 so hopefully this year will raise even more.

Supporting this worthwhile charity, Masterpiece shows antiques and artworks that are amongst the best of the best from international galleries and dealers. Amongst my favourites were a 1930’s oil sold during the week for a mere £2.5million and also a rare 1950’s vintage Jaguar for sale for a couple of a million.

The works of art and jewels were stunning to look at on the various stands and the assorted canapes constantly on offer- difficult to resist- were from Harry’s bar, Scotts, Le Caprice, and the Mount St Deli. Completely delicious, but there are only so many mini burgers, asparagus and oysters you can eat- even when washed down with champagne!.

The evening was such fun admiring the stunning artworks and great people watching too! Celebs looking glam included Jasmine Guinness, Donna Air and Amanda Ferry.

Note to self- am sure not a single size 0 owner of the many perfect honed, toned and bronzed legs there this evening ate a single morsel of canape or carb -possibly maybe one asparagus stalk- I should learn a lesson from this……………..

I should have been on BBC TV breakfast news today at 7.30am.
I was invited to discuss airbrushing and how it can affect teenagers’ self- esteem and how it can lead to eating disorders.
How the perception and reality of the impossibly slimmed down perfect airbrushed body as seen on celebrities in the media- can make young(and older) women feel inadequate ..
But
I couldn’t get to the BBC looking TV-ready as I am currently living with builders in a flat that really is a building site with no bathroom/shower or kitchen-(there is however still a toilet). If I could have been airbrushed at 6.30am this morning that would have been the perfect solution….

so this week is all about showering at the gym/swimming pool.

Was however cheered up hugely by this lovely email from one of my www.redcarpetundies.com customers.

Off to Thailand and Hong Kong. Staying at the ANANTARA BOPHUT, Koh Samui and then the MIRA HOTEL Hong Kong.
will be keeping you all updated with pix and stories…. well a few anyway!

Can anyone recommend any great little local restaurants in the Fisherman’s village in Koh Samui next to our hotel?

can anyone recommend specific shopping destinations/stores /not necessarily the markets-in Hong Kong to buy Designer at discounted prices. You know what I mean!

Not going into China as no time.

LOTS MORE PIX TO UPLOAD so
do please keep an eye on my Cowes Week blog update (well actually “one-day” blog) as I was out on the press boat.
I took loads of pix until my battery died (forgot to charge it first- sooo blonde)!… so continued with my Blackberry phone camera.
Think the current photos are those from the blackberry
See if you can spot the difference when theyre all up- actually am rather impressed with the Blackberry pix too, especially as it was a tricky manouevre standing still on a boat whilst on a choppy sea, attempting to not just capture sea or sky- always good to get a boat or too in the picture too!

Sadly missed the start of the Artemis Challenge with Zara Phillips and Ewan Mcgregor competing on two of the yachts, but did get to watch the start, recall and restart of the XOD class with 145 boats competing. Also saw the Squibs and Redwings.

Was so exciting being the midst of the racing yachts. Loved my day out- next year will be covering more days definitely! did feel somewhat inadequate though, as the only female with a small lensed camera on a press boat full of serious yachty only male photographers with very very large lenses.

Back to London next for my Bob Mackie QVC shows on Saturday 9am and 12midday.
