LBC radio Nick Ferrari breakfast show 8.45am

With the news today of the death of the founder of Gap we chatted about how Gap has changed the face of the High Street bringing affordable Preppy style tshirts, polo shirts, jeans etc to the mass market. And how Gap used innovative ad campaigns with Madonna. The cool factor was demonstrated when Sharon Stone wore a Gap 22$ polo neck top at the Oscars on the Red Carpet. Now to bring excitement back to the brand, Gap has worked with Designers such as Roland Mouret and now Pierre Hardy for shoes with capsule collections

GIVe by George Davies new shop launch

The launch of GIVe, the new concept shop by George Davies, the creator of Next and per Una. At the GIVe shops, women are looked after by “style advisors” not shop assistants, to guide them to the best buy for their figure shape. Tailoring alterations are done instore at no extra charge and sizing is in Roman Numerals 1-V1, so no having to ask for a size 18 any more.

The designs are easy to wear, and some styles particularly well cut for women who have tums and disappearing waists to disguise.

My personal favourites were the tailored black dinner jackets and skirts- perfect for the Christmas party season.

BBC Radio woman’s hour 10am

on BBC radio Woman’s Hour at 10am.

we are chatting about the TUC proposal for women to no longer wear heels in the workplace. This is apparently to help women’s back and feet problems caused by standing in heels.

I say, why can’t women make their own decisions together with their management as to what is appropriate in their particular workplace. Many women travel to work in trainers or flatties and then change once at work, so they are not in heels all day.

whilst in the Green room waiting for our slot, who was in there as well but Banarama! The girls looked great, rather elegant and sophisticated now! We reminisced about the 80’s, favourite songs and how the journalist Hannah Betts (who was with us for the “heels or not” chat) had a dad who had met Bananarama on the train all those years ago and had been so taken with them, that they were the only band that he had ever followed since!

detox retreat in Devon end of stay

After 6 days at the retreat I am leaving in the morning around 7Ibs lighter and feeling so better in myself. As the weather has been so bad here in Devon, I joined Dinnaton health club(a members only club) near Ivybridge to swim in their pool each morning and for the pilates classes. This is not something that is advocated by the retreat, as they fill your day sufficiently with talks, treatments and yoga and meditations, but I wanted to swim regularly as was missing it.

Whilst parking my car in the car park, I noticed “Exquisite Beauty”, a small beauty salon beside the health club. If you are local to the area, I would highly recommend this small salon that was bought and taken over 3 years ago by Kate Lethbridge when she was only 18. Kate runs the salon and does the treatments with skill and care and is fully booked most days. The pedicure, eye lash and eyebrow tints were as good as those I have had in London. If a 21year old can make such a success of a business in only 3 years, I wondered what she will be doing in 10 years time! I say watch out Estee Lauder….

Breathedetoxretreat in West Devon

What do you do when you feel exhausted, over stressed, over-fed and a need to escape?

You go to a detox retreat in west Devon near Chagford, to re-educate your thought processes and eating patterns so that you can look after yourself in the future in a healthier way.

So now I am 4 days into my week’s stay in a Devon farmhouse.
3 days on juices and broths only (delicious, but strangely I have never felt starving) ….together with colon-cleansing powders added to the juices (disgusting but effective) have made me feel refreshed and re-vitalised. I have also had hypnotherapy and nutritional advice to help my ongoing journey to a new me.

Holly, who runs the retreat, has given me great massage treatments with relaxation and meditation classes and talks on looking at your life in different ways.

The person who may have helped me the most is the homeopath I didnt feel I needed to see- Phill de Jong (email him at [email protected]). He was brilliant, and underlying emotions in me emerged whilst chatting to him that were obviously being well-hidden by me (even from myself). He left remedies for me to take whilst here and on an ongoing basis at home.

So I shall leave hopefully not only slimmer, but with renewed positivity toward life. But I am waiting until day 6 to weigh myself and try on my tightest jeans………

BBC RADIO STOKE The Breakfast show with Peter Morgan at 7.50am

p>”Summer Clothing Disasters”. Alton Towers has banned men wearing Speedos. I agree – they’re one of the worst fashion disasters-unflattering, unsexy…..I could go on all day…

So what are the other fashion disasters we see on the streets, the beaches and in offices regularly the moment the sun comes out?

Unfortunately the British sun doesnt come out too often, so us Brits whip our clothes off at the slightest opportunity.
