I am passionate about helping teenagers to make the most of themselves with self esteem and confidence, without feeling pressurised by their friends or by the often airbrushed perfection of celebrity images they see in magazines. After the Summer holidays, I am looking forward to holding sponsored workshops in schools throughout the UK to help show teenagers that no-one is perfect -least of all the celebrities I have styled over the last 20 years.

Breakfast meetings and new product launches are always an interesting start to the day, and yesterday I breakfasted in Selfridges personal shopping private dining room at the launch of the new QMS “medicosmetics” skin care treatment range that claims to help repair and rejuvenate skin. These products with special formulas help collagen penetrate the skin. This German brand is created by Dr Eric Schulte, who was a reconstructive plastic surgeon for severe facial and burn wound victims. His range of products, from the photographs shown, can perform miracles in the 120 days that it takes for skin to rejuvenate and repair itself (apparently our skin repair system works in 40 day cycles and after three of these cycles we will see optimum effects). So I am looking forward to my newly youthful renaissance in 120 days and will keep this blog updated on my progress. The range launches exclusively in Selfridges on the 20th August and Dr Schulte will even be on hand to answer your queries.
So Harrods didn’t let in a woman with a mohican haircut…. was it right or wrong? I do remember the first time around during the 80’s Punk era when this happened too. How far can someone go to expressing their personality within boundaries of correctness? Or is this more about looking sloppy and unkempt and being tarred by the same brush that includes tourists in London wearing shorts, running trainers and bumbags or rucksacks?
Should companies have certain dressing standards and codes to keep a brand identity? I believe they should and that many companies could still grow in an econmomic downturn if they appraise their customers’ perception and expectations of their brand.
The FourSeasons Sharm el Sheikh is one of my favourite Hotels to go to in the world. It is secluded, romantic and in the most beautiful position laid out like a small hillside village of luxurious villa suites overlooking the Red Sea. The attentive faultless service makes you feel special. If you want to chill and do nothing apart from lie in the sun and have Spa treatments then this is your place. Alternatively you can be active non-stop at any activity you choose including scuba diving, horse-riding into the desert or tennis lessons.
Cyprus is only 4 Hours from London and hot enough to lie in the sun even in the Winter and Spring months. The Anassa has won the Tatler Award for World Top Spa Legend 2007 and the Villegiature Award Best Resort in Europe 2006. After visiting for a week in May last year, I totally agreed with these verdicts. The Anassa is situated in a beautiful bay (by a nature reserve-so still natural and unbuilt). The architectural interiors are visually impressive as you enter, and the staff attentive. This is a luxurious and glamorous 5* Hotel where as a woman, you might wish to dress stylishly at night appropriate to the surroundings, especially as two of the restaurants offer ‘serious’ gourmet food, beautifully presented, served in romantic dining rooms. Equally if you are on your own or with your family and children, you will have no need to dress up at all, as you may simply move from the beach and poolside (or even your own private pool in a garden villa) during the daytime to the more casual buffet dining room, poolside restaurants or special entertainment nights such as the beach barbeque and the Greek night set outside with traditional dancing and music. Although the food is fantastic you can still leave feeling fit and svelte as there is an excellent nutritionist on hand to help you with your dietary requirements. At the breakfast buffet there is even a ‘healthy corner’ with soya milk and wheat free cereals and bread, whilst the Spa has a special, delicious, menu too and a juice bar. The Spa is a place that is not simply an adjunct to the Hotel but somewhere you could come for a week to de-tox, train in the gym, swim in the indoor pool, practise yoga with the Yoga teacher and chill out with pampering and relaxing well-executed treatments. My Polish masseur Mariusz was one of the best masseurs I have discovered anywhere in the world. I cannot recommend the Anassa enough for a short break or long stay, as you will be welcomed and looked after perfectly whether you are on your own (as I was) or with friends and family.
