Doesn’t time fly?

I still work with celebrities but now get the most pleasure in being able to help my non-celebrity clients look and feel their best: with advice on how to be the best versions of themselves: With self confidence, self esteem, body confidence, positivity, a healthy lifestyle and good mental health.

#tbthursdays
#tbthursdays to when I was a teenager
Wearing denim on denim in the Jean Machine on the Kings Road Chelsea. Maybe 1970.
.
The denim shirt was studded.
I added an YSL diamante star brooch which was a must have then.
Chunky belt and chunky silver bracelet.
.
We used to pour ourselves into our jeans, the denim had no elastine added then. We wore the smallest size possible and lay down on the floor using a coat hanger handle to pull up the zip or even asked someone for their help.
.
The Jean Machine back in the day was a super cool place and everyone came to buy their jeans there including celebrities who we all shamelessly pounced on to get them to be our customer as we were on commission for every jean sale. We all earned a lot of money on Saturdays for ourselves in cash and for the owners too! .
The photos weren’t filtered.
We accepted our photos as they were, even if we didn’t look perfect. Perfect wasn’t an option.
.
No one would ever have considered taking photos or selfies then as we had no mobile phones only proper cameras, and those were used for dedicated photography on holidays or occasions or proper photoshoots. Definitely not recording a day’s random activities publicly. No one would have wanted their activities on public view at that time. Everyone was too badly behaved.
.
No-one had comparison anxiety then.
We might aspire to look like the models or actors in magazines, ads, films or TV.
There were no reality TV stars. .
We may have wanted to be skinnier like the models or fit in a smaller pair of jeans, but no one judged our body shapes. .
Mental health or anxiety was never mentioned.
.
We lived in the moment and engaged with life around us. We were the generation that were no longer like our mothers tied by their apron strings to the kitchen and the home.
.
The world was our oyster.

The Mary Quant retrospective at the V&A museum
The first of 2 posts of 10 video clips and photos.
Such an iconic designer that not only created fashion history in the 1960’s but changed how girls dressed-no longer like their mothers.
Fashion was suddenly fun.
Quant personified swinging London and the Kings Road Chelsea .

And remembering my late mother
#tbthursdays to my late father and mother
Its throwback Thursday
#tbthursday Back in the day
Before social media and when we were all happier in our own skins.
.
Here I am on holiday in Mauritius in 1980s.
.
We aspired to look like the models or movie stars we read about in magazines or saw on TV and movies. There were no reality wannabe TV stars , a celebrity was a celebrity by virtue of actual talent not Tv exposure or a social media presence.
.
We may have wanted to be slimmer, have bigger boobs, a smaller waist or longer legs but we didn’t stress about it, didn’t seek cosmetic procedures to instantly change our bodies or body shame.
.
Life seemed simpler then.
We could be who we wanted to be without judgement.
The words anxiety and mental health weren’t words that we now so often hear in our daily life.
.
We are all shapes and sizes and should accept and embrace our differences. .
That’s what makes you unique and special.
No one is perfect , unless they’ve been filtered or airbrushed in a social media photo. And that’s not reality. .
Don’t compare.
Don’t judge
Be yourself.
