2nd guest speaker talk this week For Mental Health Week

2nd guest speaker talk this week
For
Mental Health Week
The topic is
Body Image and Social Media
For BNP Paribas Leasing Basingstoke.
.
I love doing these speaker talks for organisations or schools.
If I can inspire or change the mindset even of just a small percentage of my audience it's all worth while.
.
I want both women and men to aspire to be their unique best selves, to not aspire to be like the images that they perceive to be the reality on Instagram social media posts.
.
I'm wearing:
A current season £29.00 Zara dress.
I replaced the plastic red belt it came with, with a Gucci one. I like to mix affordable High street with occasional Designer accessories.
Orange ballet shoes Zara past season.
.
.

@bbc5live @emmabarnett

@bbc5live @emmabarnett .
Chatting about age- and being real on BBC5live at 10.50am this morning with Emma Barnett.
.
Why I no longer feel the need to fib about my age even when I reach another milestone birthday. Looking in the mirror each morning isn't always the best as i still feel like my younger self inside but the mirror tells a different story.
.
When we were in our teens or twenties, we aged ourselves up to appear more wordly and maybe to be taken more seriously by those older than us especially for career advancement.
.
However when we reached our 40s and onwards we fibbed and lopped years off to remain as long as possible in the previous decade.
.
Now that we look after ourselves better with a healthy lifestyle and diet, nutrition knowledge, fitness and beauty regimes, we can look our best and be proud of how we look naturally whatever our age.
.
I'm proud to look the way I do in my 60s.
.
Of course I would like to look like I did when I was in my 20s but I'll settle for being the best version of how I am now.
.
I've had amazing life experiences in my 60plus years and two wonderful children.
Ive no need to fib any longer.
.
I want to inspire women of all ages.

The latest video of the @tuclothing @portasagency #allboobswelcome ad campaign

Your thoughts ladies??? .
Does this ad campaign help give you body confidence?
Feel better about your own body image?
Understand that no one is perfect ( unless they’ve airbrushed or filtered).
.
If I can undress at the age of 64 together with these other brave and confident women of all ages, shapes, sizes.. then you too should be confident enough to embrace the body you actually have.
.
Btw, I had no name for my boobs in this video.
However I actually did… I called them “my girls!” What do you call yours? .
@eliza_h
New work out today 71% of women felt typical lingerie ads appealed to men and we knew it was time to get real. We’ve had enough of Victoria Secret’s catwalks and unattainable photoshopped perfection. We took to the streets and cast real women of all shapes and sizes.
.
Today and over the next 4 weeks we’ll be celebrating diversity and encouraging women to embrace their bodies as they are. From “Lemon drops” to “Ant & Dec” we say .

Age is just a number!

Age is just a number!
.
Here is my 96 year old auntie,
me age 64,
and @misslucy_lou The Westie x Bichon dog. .
Women of all ages can still be naturally beautiful, with no filters applied to enhance or manipulate.
.
Beauty comes from within and shines out when you're happy in your own skin, together with confidence, positivity and positive body language. .
Being fake isn't beautiful.
Being real is.
Be the best you can be in your real life.
.
Love yourself and believe you are worth it.
.
Embrace all life has to offer and grab it with both hands and be grateful for everything you have. My 96 year old auntie does and is the funniest and most irreverent person I know.
And she still likes to dress stylishly and glamorously whenever she goes out, always with makeup and definitely lipstick.

#20yearchallenge

.
Appreciate your life and each day you're here. You never know what tomorrow brings.
.
Be grateful for your good health, your happiness, your family, and your 'inner' beauty whatever age, body shape or size you are. .
We are all different and unique and that's what makes each and everyone special.
.
My photo was from 20 years ago ( so I must have been maybe in my early 40's as I'm now 64. This was before filters and apps, but beautifully and flatteringly lit by the photographer. .
I know I didn't appreciate how I looked then and was certainly more critical of myself then than I am now in my old age. .
We all get older and should grow old gracefully or disgracefully if you prefer, whilst being your own person and not caring what others say or how they judge you- especially through social media. .

Age 64 and body confident enough to still wear a bikini

Age 64 and body confident enough to still wear a bikini.
.
Whatever your bodyshape or size be confident in how you are naturally with no Insta filters.
.
Don't let people fat shame, body shame or make you feel bad about your body. .
We are all unique in our personalities, appearance and bodyshapes and that's what makes you special.
.
So although I had a 6lb weightloss after 7 nights @grayshottspa on the Health Regime it should not be about actual weight loss but more importantly about visceral body fat ( the fat that collects internally around your vital organs) which can lead to diabetes, heart disease and more.
.
So for an ongoing healthy lifestyle diet try to leave out:
Sugar
Simple carbs ( all "white" foods such as bread, pastries, cakes, flour, potatoes, rice, pasta ) that turn into sugar
Fruits high in sugar ( grapes, bananas)
Fruit juices ( high in sugar even if fresh)
Processed meats
Unhealthy processed cooking oils ( rapeseed, sunflower etc)
Grains if you're sensitive to them
Milk
Low fat foods ( full fat best as our bodies need fat to feel fuller longer and to function well- especially the brain) .
.
Eat mainly :
( if you can)
Protein- organic eggs, poultry, grass fed beef, lamb, pork
Oily fish such as wild or organic salmon, herring, mackerel, tuna, sardines ( for Omega3)
Organic leafy and colourful vegs, and a few root vegs.
Nuts and seeds ( non salted)
And full fat yoghurts ( Greek) and unpasteurised cheeses ( not if you're pregnant)
And
Fermented foods such as Sauerkraut and Kefir.
Good first press extra virgin Olive oil and coconut oil and good butter.
.
If you are Vegan or Vegetarian then obviously there is no meat or dairy but do check if your foods or dairy alternatives have high sugar content.
.

Last day Day #7 @grayshottspa

Last day
Day @grayshottspa .
First day in the gym with personal trainer John.
You will see my efforts in future posts...
A mix of HIIT and strengthening exercises particularly for the quads.
The glutes and hamstrings and core and are working well together from my pilates fitness..
.
And...
.
What was it that French man Jann Moix wrote today about women over 50 being too old to love? And that women in their 20s are the only ones worth dating.
Well I'm 64 and still going strong so he's talking a load of old tosh.

Blondes have more fun! Blonde highlights sorted again with thanks to my lovely @chanelnott @chelseagreensalon

Blondes have more fun!
Blonde highlights sorted again with thanks to my lovely @chanelnott @chelseagreensalon
.
The tonal colour of your hair can lift and illuminate your face.
Or can drain if wrong.
It's so important to make sure your blonde tones do work for you.
It's not about how blonde you are. Creamy tones are best. Never brassy or yellow.
.
Today I'm wearing:
Snakeskin jeans this season.
Cashmere sweater #M&S last year
Studded trainers last year
Westie x bichon @misslucy_lou 9 years old! .
