Cooking and eating healthily is important

Cooking and eating healthily is important.
when you're in Corona lock-down or self-isolation.
Our grandparents were clever to never waste any food. They had to be. They were rationed. We are used to abundance so I'm going to be demonstrating my ways of using leftovers for tasty recipes that could stretch across a week.
Video clip is a Sunday roast- chicken, baked potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic.
Photos and are a chicken, leek and onion pie with the remainder of the roast potatoes sliced on top and then baked in the oven topped with seeds and breadcrumbs (that fell off my sourdough loaf when I sliced it) and olive oil on top.
Video chicken stock from all the meat and veg remains and additional herbs and leeks and onions and green vegetable water.
Healthy eating helps immunity. .

Sometimes you just have to!

Sometimes you just have to! .
My Instagram posts are all about being real, no filters, being true to yourself and leading a healthy lifestyle with nutrition and fitness tips, intermittent fasting, and healthy sugar free and wheat free recipes for a healthy gut.. .
However.....
.
When you're in Brighton at a brilliant fishy restaurant @thesaltroombrighton you have a day off. .
Sometimes a little of what you fancy is better than having those cravings and constantly denying yourself.
Life is for living and enjoying.
.
Dont beat yourself up after, enjoy the moment and every single mouthful and then go back to eating healthily the next day with maybe a 16/18 hour break before your first meal of the following day to give your digestive system time to recover.
.
This is a sharing pud..... "A taste of the Sea"
( and no it wasn't all for me)
Candyfloss, rhubarb "99" ice cream, smoked salted fudge, chocolate truffle pebble, apple and almond tart, passion fruit sours, chocolate and orange doughnut,, .
The picture on the bottom right is fish soup. It was served separately in a jug together with croutons, to be poured over a piece of octapus, roux and I think a piece of orange which were at the bottom of the bowl. .
It was absolutely delicious

Healthy homecooked Sunday brunch

Healthy homecooked Sunday brunch.
.
.
Scrambled local farmshop free range eggs, smoked salmon from the village fish shop, smashed avocado with red chillies that were home grown in my garden, peashoots, and artisan seeded sourdough bread from the local baker. .
When you're by the seaside it's so much nicer to be able to shop locally for your ingredients, supporting the local community and village shops but also to know that the food you're buying is mostly locally produced and free range or organic..
.
Sometimes the food we eat may look and taste delicious but add nothing positive to daily diet or our nutrition. These include simple carbs which are mostly foods that are beige ( ie: bread, biscuits, cakes, pastries, pasta). Processed foods. Hormone-fed meats. Battery-reared chickens and eggs.

Its the weekend and sometimes you just have to!

Its the weekend and sometimes you just have to! .

However I only kept the bun on the burger for the purposes of this photo
And then.... I removed it.
.
.
If I'm going to have a carb treat with yummy thrice-cooked chips
then I would never have a 2nd loading of carbs with the burger bun. .
One portion of simple carbs (not the healthier option of complex carbs) is plenty! Simple carbs such as bread, pastries, cakes, pasta etc give a sugar spike to your blood sugar levels giving you an energy high and then a rapid low.
.
.
So here we have a yummy healthy home-made beefburger, ( minus bun) gherkin, slice of cheese, bacon, fried onions, salad, and home-cooked fries.
Thank you @hungrybear.tk delish! .
