When you get up at 6

When you get up at 6.00am in the morning for a 7am Pilates reformer class...... .
.
.
Upper body strength exercises have always been the most difficult ones for me. Improvement is slowly happening and pikes, planks and a variety of shoulder girdle and arm exercises are becoming less of a struggle the longer I persevere.
.
Using core, glutes, lower abs and in fact all body to support and control. .

Working the arms

Working the arms.

How we all really look in the gym when working out. No filters, makeup, pouting, or posing to accentuate the abs and glutes.

Back to a barrecore class today

Back to a barrecore class today.
.
.
It's another birthday next week, (in my 60's) which reminds me that as we get older it's important to keep fit, healthy and mobile. For mind and body.
Even if the exercise is only a 20 minute brisk walk a day. Exercise should be a minimum of 3 times a week. .
.
.
I like to mix up my fitness classes each week. Each style of class has a different purpose.
So today is barrecore which has core and glute work, plies and sqats, together with ballet style barre exercises and light weights for arms.
I do Pilates once a week for core and glute strength and spinal mobility.
30 min boxing and HIIT workout once a week for cardio and also to help weight maintenance or loss.
Horse riding is my occasional special feel good treat especially when It's riding along the beach.
And then there's the dog that needs a walk.... What's your weekly fitness or exercise regime? And what's your favourite class?

Back on the Pilates reformer

Back on the Pilates reformer.

Exercise for hip rotation, inner thigh muscles- the adductors, and hip control. Especially good for strengthening around the hip.
I did this exercise as part of a series of 3 sets. Toes turned out heels together,
then toes turned in heels out
and then straight.
So using all three sets of surounding hip support muscles. .

Not very good at this ‘bear crawl’ fitness exercise

Not very good at this 'bear crawl' fitness exercise.
At least I tried my best!
What a meany trainer! @sportsperformance86 ha! ha!

This was at the end of 20 mins HIIT boxing workout and then doing these bear crawls up and down the garden 4 x over.
So maybe that could be why I look so rubbish at this?

Morning PT HIIT workout

Morning PT HIIT workout.
Monday morning training with a mix of boxing, agility and core exercises.

As you can see from the video clip I'm not the best in fast side to side movements due to past injury restrictions and an element of caution!
(hip resurface and torn glute med 3 years ago, and injured knee ligaments this March)
However at 63 I am grateful to be fit and able to do everything I want to do from pilates and dance classes to horse riding, and paddleboarding. .

Harder than it looks! Early morning boxing training and HIIT workout

Harder than it looks!
Early morning boxing training and HIIT workout.

Much easier to box with a trainer and pads than it is with this boxing practice machine that swings right back at you.
