Maybe it's more how you feel about yourself....

When you get up at 6

When you get up at 6.00am in the morning for a 7am Pilates reformer class...... .
.
.
Upper body strength exercises have always been the most difficult ones for me.  Improvement is slowly happening and pikes, planks and a variety of shoulder girdle and arm exercises are becoming less of a struggle the longer I persevere.
.
Using core, glutes, lower abs and in fact all body to support and control. .
.
.
.

The Summer wardrobe is finally having an airing this week

The Summer wardrobe is finally having an airing this week.
.
Summer has arrived in London at the same time as my busiest fun week of the year.
.
It makes a change to wear real clothes instead of daily fitness kit lycra which everyone walks around London in, even if they're not going to the gym.
.
Girls night out with Marcia McCabe at my cousin Russ Kane's pre-Edinburgh festival warm up gig at the Albany pub, London. .
Wearing halter neck silk top and limited edition customised jeans from Zara ( summer 2018) and vintage denim jacket.
.
I can remember a newspaoer article a while ago saying at what age are you too old to wear jeans? .
I say never too old.

Reformer Pilates

Reformer Pilates.
.
Often an exercise needs subtle postural tweaks or alignments to be performed correctly and effectively. .
Small corrections can make all the difference to feeling the right muscles engaging and working properly.
.
It's very easy to often think you're doing an exercise as it should be done, but in fact be cheating yourself as a slightly incorrect stance or body placement won't be using the specific targeted muscle or set of muscles for the movement. .
Here I'm trying to keep the back straight, hips square, core engaged, abs and glutes switched on, and the knee tracking correctly over the ankle and foot on the standing leg.

Still keeping supple at age 64

Still keeping supple at age 64.
.
Not necessarily the most flattering position but hey... at least the body is still mobile, even with the left hip re-surfaced a few years ago and various other injuries.
.
For my fitness regime I try to do Pilates, mat or reformer, 3 times a week. Anything else is in addition or if I can't get to a Pilates class.
.
My Pilates posts aren't always real time so don't believe I am a fitness fanatic and exercising every single day - I'm not! .
If I'm in the Isle of Wight I love to horse ride on the beach.
.
I also do occasional dance classes which can help memory as well as fitness, as  concentration is needed to remember routines.
.
Boxing mixed with HIIT in the gym is great for cardio and fat burning and also concentration as I dont want to be punched on the nose  
.
.
.

This one is to strengthen the quadraceps to help support the knee joint and stop the hip flexors doing all the work. .
Hip flexors can take over if the quadraceps are weak, especially after hip resurfacing surgery.

Invest in yourself

Invest in yourself.
.
We all say we haven't got the money or the time to invest in ourselves, especially at this time of the year.
Maybe it's a weekend away, a holiday abroad, time just for ourselves, an escape, a retreat, an experience, somewhere to learn a new skill or simply taking time out to stop and understand more about ourselves and what we want from our lives.
.
But making time and finding a way to do this can often make you happier, more successful and more fulfilled in your life and ready for an exciting new 2019 year ahead.
.
So go for it.
Make yourself your priority like I just have done.
You're worth it and everyone around you will benefit as well.
.

.
.
