I myself have always been responsible for whatever I was loaned -diamonds, dresses, shoes, handbags etc and often needed to be insured.
At one time I had a £1,000,000 diamonds lent to me and had to keep them discreetly in a Sainsbury’s plastic bag( as you do)! until they were returned the next day.
