By the way, the outfit that Cher wore again after 20 years at the MTV Video Music awards was a Bob Mackie classic. She looked great then and still does now. Wish I could get into all my clothes of 20 years ago… well maybe with a bit of extra help I could – my redcarpetundies.com shapewear, and probably some liposuction…
Elizabeth Gilbert‘s book, “Eat, Pray, Love”, details her personal journey of self-discovery and has touched the lives of the many millions of women that have read it. Due for release next week, the movie of the book stars Julia Roberts and tonight I’ve been lucky enough to attend “A conversation with” Elizabeth Gilbert, hosted by Paul Holdengr?ber.
Through her book, and now the film, Liz Gilbert tells her story of seeking happiness and the answers to her life through her travels to Italy, India and Indonesia, and at tonight’s event she has been discussing her life and writing, for the first time in the UK. It’s been a fascinating and funny evening with great insights into Liz’s life, family and thoughts on everything, including what it’s like to have Julia Roberts playing you!

This morning I was interviewed on BBC Radio Oxford by Joel Hammer about designers helping to promote a healthy body image by casting ‘normal-size’ models in their fashion shows. As a stylist I know that every person has the ability to look their best, whatever size they are; it’s all about dressing to suit your body shape.
The popular TV series Mad Men, starring the curvaceous Christina Hendricks, has resulted in this season’s trend reviving the fifties’ style of cinched waists and beautiful bosoms. If, like Miss Hendricks, you have a voluptuous shape, my online store www.Redcarpetundies.com stocks clever body-shaping lingerie solutions in a range of sizes and brands, including stunning waist cinchers from Mad Men supplier, Rago.
Tomorrow I’ll be having a private one-to-one with a client who wishes to improve her confidence and I’ll be using a variety of my tried-and-tested methods to help give her a new positive self-image. To help my clients love what they see in the mirror, I share with them my secret style tips which are guaranteed to boost self-esteem and ensure that, no matter what your size or shape is, with my help you can transform your image and discover the new you.
If you missed my interview this morning, it’s available on the BBC iPlayer website. Just click on the link here and the page will open in a new window.
Tomorrow morning on BBC Radio Oxford I’ll be discussing the casting of ‘normal-size’ models in fashion shows. This hot topic has had a lot of attention this week following the announcement that New York Fashion Week is allowing larger models onto the catwalk in an effort to showcase ‘real women’ shoppers. Today in the UK, high street retailers New Look and M&S have also declared that they will follow suit and feature size 14 models at the upcoming Look Show at the Saatchi gallery in Chelsea. The show is due to coincide with the start of London Fashion Week and will feature top ‘plus-size’ model Crystal Renn attired in size 14 clothes from such retailers as Oasis and French Connection.
Be sure to tune in to 95.2FM BBC Radio Oxford tomorrow when I’ll be giving my opinion on whether clothes look better on slimmer frames and what I really think about advertisers who insist on using size 6 models. This groundbreaking development in the world of fashion is sure to spark an interesting discussion tomorrow, don’t miss it!
