Dancing on Ice (in the Isle of Wight!)

Spent 2 afternoons (yesterday and today) with Dan Whiston, one of the pros from TV’s Dancing On Ice, and coach Karen Barber reviving my childhood ice skating – a very long time ago!

It was so exciting, I managed way more than I thought I could, and even managed a spin. Now I can’t wait for them to return next year to the island, when they will be holding an ice dancing and coaching week.

Isle of Wight cottage

This was my latest project – a rental cottage I’ve just renovated in the Isle of Wight.

The cottage is available to rent through WightLocations.co.uk

Plantation shutters by openshut.co.uk; all furnishings sourced from vintage shops, car boot sales
charity shops, Primark, BHS, Matalan, M&S, M&co and my favourite find was the original 50’s formica
sideboard bought for £25 in the Wimbledon carboot sale.

body rocka

I’ve been working out with my body rocka core strengthening balance board. Its a small piece of home-gym apparatus that strengthens the core muscles with regular use. It seems to be helping my back and posture and saves me going to so many Pilates classes as the exercises I can practise on my body rocka give the same results.

The wedding day

Loved being at the BBC press stand for BBC5live and BBC Radio 2 during the Wedding. the sense of occasion was amazing and really quite moving.

Looking forward to guesting on 5live again on the breakfast show in the morning 7.55am. We will be chatting about the Dress and the guest fashions- who got it right and who didn’t. Am I hearing a cry of Eugenie and Beatrice- so wrong- oh dear……..

Mother of the bride Carole Middleton and step-mother of the groom, the Duchess of Cornwall – perfect- appropriate, elegant and stylish- but Camilla’s pockets on the hip don’t flatter her bodyshape

A heavily pregnant Victoria Beckham with a great dress and hat but a six inch pair of Christian Louboutin courts are at least 4 inches too high

Tara Palmer Tomkinson – I like the whole outfit- it certainly makes Tara stand out from the crowd in the same way as the Queen’s yellow does- but the fashion press felt that it was all too much

Princesses Eugenie’s cobalt Vivienne Westwood outfit is just dreadful, especially on a curvaceous figure, whilst Princess Beatrice’s hat is the worst Phillip Treacy creation I have ever seen- The girls look like 2 panto dames.

Miriam Clegg’s polka dot dress topped off with Carmen Miranda style floral turban – just not stylish

Samantha Cameron in a beautiful ruched, silk-crepe Burberry dress but where is the hat? Just all too casual.

ROMANCE and WEDDINGS-not just the Royal one……

Back in London for a 24hour working visit- Today I met up with a private client for a last minute fit and shop for bridal and honeymoon lingerie-

Tomorrow I’m commenting on The Wedding fashions for guest and Bride on BBC RADIO 5 LIVE sometime between 9.30ish and 11am

But how romantic is this??? …….my client today, in her mid-60’s, is marrying her childhood sweetheart who first proposed to her at the age of 17. She turned him down as circumstances didnt allow- they both married others, had children- then her husband died a few years ago. This first boyfriend appeared again in her life coincidentally 2 years ago and within the first 5 minutes of meeting they both knew that this time it was forever….. so the lingerie we shopped for today is for their wedding this weekend.

Loved this story and it just goes to show that its not just Kate and Wills who are having the wonderful romantic day- it can happen again in your 60’s too…….unexpectedly

You can hear my fashion commentary on BBC radio5 Live with Victoria Derbyshire tomorrow morning. (hope i can fight through the crowds to get to the media stand)!

ANDREX limited collection launch

Very early this morning dashed up to Sketch, Conduit St London W1 for the breakfast launch of the Andrex Limited collection (yes- it is loo paper)! with Laurence Llewelyn Bowen and Anna Ryder Richardson.

The Limited Collection in 4-pack pattern choices come in either “Bright and Bold”(Laurence) or “Subtle and stylish” (Anna).

Well by coincidence, I have just redesigned and styled the interior of a holiday rental cottage in Bembridge, Isle of Wight and these bright and bold bubble-gum colours are exactly in line with my 50’s retro styling of the cottage.

So keep and eye on my blog over the next 2 weeks and you will be able to see the finished cottage/bathroom transformation from plain and boring to bright and funky together with my cheap and chic High Street buys from BHS, Debenhams, primark and car boot sales together with Andrex make-a-statement-with colour and pattern loo rolls.

Kate Middleton’s wedding dress…by Bob Mackie for QVC

Loving BOB MACKIE’s artwork.

Just had an exclusive preview of this sketch by the talented Mr Bob Mackie – his vision of our
Princess-in-waiting’s wedding dress. A sketch Bob did of what he envisions Kate should wear
on her wedding day.

QVC asked him, and other designers, to do a rendition for their own Wedding Boutique. See the sketches on QVC’s site.

A&E American TV network- “ROYAL WEDDING OF A LIFETIME”

“ROYAL WEDDING OF A LIFETIME” for the USA TV network, A&E.
will be shown on Mylifetime.com over 6 shows starting Monday 18th April at 11pm (not sure whether that is UK time)

I am appearing in shows 2 and 3. “Tale of 2 princesses at 8pm on 21st April and 9pm “Kate’s gown of renown” at 9pm.

It was such fun filming it as I was given a “Kate Middleton look-alike” to style and show how the real Kate would get the look both in a wedding dress and her day clothes.

Looking forward to the wedding on the 29th when I am commenting for BBC Radio 5 live on the fashions and The Dress.

LBC radio Sunday Night Live with Richard Arnold 9.15pm

guesting on Sunday Night Live on LBC with Richard Arnold.

A recent survey has shown that many girls now aspire to be Kate Middleton.
Until recently I thought most girls looked up to Cheryl Cole or even Katie Price.

so are these the same girls?
and why?
Is is about marrying your Prince rather than a footballer?

catch me live at 9.15! i know it clashes with the Dancing on Ice final- sorry!
