I styled and home staged this empty room into a colourful and fun kids bedroom in my clients’ London house.
One of the important criteria was to show that the bedroom space could fit 2 single beds, as often prospective property buyers aren’t able to imagine an empty space and how the furniture might fit into it,

This is an alternative view of the bedroom

This is the bedroom after styling

The red and yellow colours of the bedroom were inspired by the vintage Mickey and Minnie prints I found on Portobello Road. The pretty flower print and gingham bedsheets were from White Company. I added small touches like kids toys and books scattered on the shelving and a wooden bike and added a vintage car outside the bedroom on the landing.

Next to the kid bedroom was a small room which could have been transformed into a nursery with a cot or a kids study. I chose to make it into the kids study.

#bedrooms #homestaging #property #styling

My American client’s empty Fulham house had 5 bedrooms to homestage, style, creating a lifestyle to help sell the house at its optimum price as quickly as possible. The master bedroom was on the top floor (see earlier blog posting) with 4 bedrooms of varying sized on the 1st floor.

I turned this bedroom into the main guest bedroom as it was large enough to comfortably fit a king size bed.

I called this my world traveller guest bedroom due to the Globetrotter vintage trunk and artwork.

#homestaging #interior #styling #London how I got the look

The object of home-staging an empty property to sell, is to maximise its selling price with a completed sale in the shortest possible time.
Creating an aspirational lifestyle and illusion of interior space and ceiling heights, whilst hiding any noticeable build or design flaws that may affect the buyers price offer is also important

This drawing room is long and narrow, with irregular wall alcoves.
the owners made the fireplace and TV the main feature so the room needs to be styled to address this.
the furniture I chose couldn’t be too large so that the room still appeared spacious.
A neutral colour scheme has colour from the artwork and flowers, picking up the lilacs and yellows from the coloured coffee table panels

This calm and restful drawing room feels homely and stylish, neutral but not bland, with some individuality.

A busy week

Such a busy week! Completed on sale of home Wednesday.

A client on Thursday for a bridal lingerie fitting. The basque I fitted her in was perfect – 34DD – but all her own bras were 38C and did nothing for her body shape or support. Why are all women wearing such wrong sized bras?!

An interview also on Thursday about BBC presenters’ style for today’s Sunday Times – “fashion experts urge BBC scruffs to smarten up” page 4 news.

Friday morning at Press launch for Piz Buin for their new light and non-greasy suntan sprays in factors 15 to 50. Love Piz Buin sun tan lotions as they have great ingredients for skin care and sun protection.

Friday am in car on way to Soho – (on hands free), LBC radio 8.45am on Kate Middleton’s style – I think she looked happy, comfortable and natural in all media coverage, not necessarily cutting edge chic but still her own person. Poor girl, everything she wears now will be dissected and analysed on a daily basis by the world’s press. How long will she staunchly remain true to her own style without outside fashion advice? Whether it’s Vogue or a personal stylist.

#interiors #style kitchens home-staging styling

The dining area of this kitchen required a long narrow table approx 3x10ft to fill the space. I found a fantastic shabby chic table from LITTLETREE furniture teamed with with pale grey calico covered chairs to help transform the space from daytime family to glamorous dinner party. The length of wall needed artwork to pull together the whole kitchen amp; dining area. 3 inexpensive abstract artworks have been used as a tryptich on the wall. These pick up the lime green colour of the kitchen stools amp; placemats. Fake fruit amp; veg add extra colour amp; interest to the table styling. http://www.satellitedishcanada.com/

#MintPolo2013 My Chesterton Humberts Polo Academy day

Last Thursday, daughter Bella and myself had the opportunity to try to play polo with Cool Hooves Polo, who are based at the Royal County Berkshire Polo Club. The event was Chesterton Humberts Polo Academy day, held in Hurlingham Park, Fulham.

Pic below is Bella.

This is where one of the big Summer social events- MINT Polo in the Park will be held 7/8/9th June.

I am now able to fully appreciate the level of difficulty of trying to connect and possibly even hit a small ball with a long stick, whilst seated on a turbo-charged pony. ?Leg to horse and neck rein doesn’t simply turn the pony, but can suddenly find you doing a ?360 degree in a nano second. How I managed to remain seated I still have no idea. Maybe adrenalin together with balance. It was definitely not the same as riding Casper the pony I regularly ride in the Isle of Wight. More Ferrari here than Ford.

Pic on left Bella, on right me.

The Cool Hooves coach Andrew Murray and Rosie Ross (a 2 goal professional) were so patient and I managed to eventually connect stick and ball and canter down the field. we learnt 3 moves with the Polo stick-forward, a swing and back (even more difficult to connect with the ball) and basic game rules.

pic on left Bella, on right me….

I still don’t know how but I won the most improved player of the day!…….
It was such fun- can’t wait to go to watch the real event.

Me and my cup – with coach Andrew and the owner of Cool Hooves polo.

Talk Sport radio with George Galloway 11.30pm

p>should you be allowed to wear your PJ’s in the supermarket?

Apparently too many women have been doing so in Tesco,Cardiff so the store has now offered a dress code for customers banning pj’s and nighties.

Is this right? Do women really not have a chance to even put a coat over their nightie and change their sliippers for boots when leaving the house for the school run? ….

Listen later on Talk Sport Radio to hear what George and I have to say on the subject.
